Sometimes you feel them coming, sometimes they sneak up on you, but no matter how or when they appear, they will surely bother you all day.
We're talking about stubborn pimples!
Nothing is more frustrating than waking up in the morning to find a new pimple, especially after you've taken extra care of your skin and drunk plenty of water.
If you're like me, you'll probably be obsessed with your new, unwelcome friend all day long.
The good news is that you don't have to apply a clay mask to your whole face or wash your face and ruin your makeup to get rid of them.
Acne treatments and patches are one of the most popular skincare trends of 2020.
Spot patches, roll-on spot treatments and DIY formulas can easily be whipped up at home to heal pimples and send them off for packaging.
1. Treatment with tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is one of the most effective essential oils for treating acne .
It is antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral, and helps to rid your skin of annoying pimples by fighting bacteria and reducing inflammation.
Tea tree essential oil is very strong, therefore its most useful side-kick is water!
Mix 1 part tea tree oil with 8 parts water, then apply to the affected area with a cotton swab.
You can repeat this a few times throughout the day to speed up the healing process, but make sure you combine it with your favorite moisturizer so you don't dry out your skin!
2. Green tea ice cubes
This DIY recipe is easy to prepare in advance so you can grab it to treat the first signs of a pimple, and it uses a super common ingredient – green tea!
Green tea is a wonderful source of antioxidants, which help fight free radicals.
It can also help with inflammation and bacteria.
The ice helps to soothe irritation and constrict blood vessels to help with redness.
This DIY project is quite simple – just brew enough organic green tea to fill an ice cube tray.
Once the tea is cool enough, place it in the freezer so you can grab it the next time you have a painful or red pimple.
3. Treatment of honey stains
Honey is excellent as a face mask or overnight acne treatment.
Raw honey has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help to gently reduce inflammation.
Simply dab it on and leave it!
4. Aloe Vera to the rescue
Aloe vera has many benefits for the skin.
It is also thin and clear, making it a great, more discreet treatment for skin blemishes.
No one will be able to see if you have a small aloe vera spot on your skin during a Zoom meeting!
Apply aloe vera gel harvested directly from the plant, or use a pure aloe vera gel without additives throughout the day or before bed to soothe irritated skin and make pimples disappear!
5. Stress-relieving and anti-bloating lavender treatment
This treatment follows a proactive and reactive approach to treating acne.
Lavender essential oil not only quickly rids the skin of harmful bacteria (we're talking about 5 minutes fast), it also helps reduce one of the biggest causes of acne – stress.
Lavender is used in aromatherapy to relieve anxiety, depression, and stress – all of which can cause your skin to become unbalanced!
Just like tea tree oil, however, it must be diluted before applying it to your skin.
Try a lavender to water ratio of 1 to 8 and apply it with a cotton ball, or fill your roller bottle and shake well to combat acne.
